The Lost Generation
Every year; on the 11th of November, people all over the world wear poppies as a sign of respect for the many veterans and civilians who died during World War One. The second most catastrophic war in history; it claimed the lives of millions of young people aged 16-30 and beyond. Due to the many battles fought in mainland Europe by the countries involved; from 1914-1918 we practically lost a generation of people. Men, women and children alike; the 'Great War' affected everyone; from America to Australia and everywhere in between.
Below is a quick video of some footage from the Battle of the Somme; one of the most famous battles of WW1. Hopefully this will give you an idea of the world-wide impact of the conclusion of World War One; and how we lost a generation.
